Superb podcast
This is an excellent podcast for anyone going through the painful realization that evangelicalism is not everything it pretended to be. If you still have your rose-colored glasses on, this could either be very educational or put you firmly into denial. The expose on Dave Ramsey was especially well done.
So Thankful for this Podcast!
I am so grateful for this podcast—everything from season 1 where guests were invited to share their stories of hurt from organizations and churches claiming the Christian label, to season 2 where the podcast host and her husband had the courage to share their family’s experience with a very prominent and powerful company, and where she invited other guests also share theirs, to the extra episodes that offer such help and hope for people who have been hurt in the past or are currently walking through a season of hurt. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having the courage to share your heart for the hurting and speak up for them!
Thankful for it! Much needed!
Thank you so much for sharing this podcast! It has helped me so much hearing the stories of others who have experienced church hurt/abuse. Hearing these stories helps me feel less alone with what happened with my family and me. So thank you for the courage of sharing! Praying that God would bless your efforts in being a voice for church abuse survivors!
This podcast is everything
This podcast has helped me not feel so alone in the feeling of disillusionment I've had with the church and some church leaders as of late. She speaks the truth bravely and plainly in a way that has helped me to feel seen and understood. Thank you for doing the Lord's work Amy!
Ramsey Series
I came to this podcast for the series on their experience with Ramsey. Wow… first off, this podcast is so well done. Secondly, thank you. Thank you for speaking your truth, for being vulnerable and sharing your story with the world. We were DR followers from 2017-late 2020 and are currently working through some of the trauma that I feel we went through just as followers. To hear the perspectives from people inside was even more eye-opening. Thank you again and keep doing what you’re doing.
Speaking truth to power
I'm in awe of the hosts' courage and thoughtfulness! They tell the story of Dave Ramsey's power abuses in a way that's nuanced, empathic, and knowledgeable. Similar to The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill. We need more brave storytellers like them to speak up and reclaim the gospel from powerful and corrupt men like Ramsey and Driscoll.
Amy’s storytelling (and voice) is perfect
Amy, thank you for sharing these stories. They are captivating and educational. Keep going!!
Thank you from a recovering Ramsey addict
I was an avid listener of Dave Ramsey for years. I actually found his practices with personal finance to be something that made sense. I became a Master Coach trained by Ramsey Solutions. My first clue that something was wrong was when Jon Acuff left suddenly, and nothing was said. In 2018 at Enrichment for coaches, it felt like we were constantly being watched and observed and if anyone raised a serious question, someone from RS would pull the person aside. The final straws for me was the Chris Hogan incident when RS allowed him a “reconciliation plan” while firing the young lady for becoming pregnant while not married. Thank you Amy, Melissa, and Lauren for sharing your stories.
Well done
Informative, healing!
I learned to save money but at what cost?
I remember listening to Dave’s radio show as I was trying to get myself financially stable. Dave took over MANY of Crown Financial listeners and followers when Larry Burkett died. He would be heartbroken and devastated by this. I was always uncomfortable with the way he spoke to listeners. I stopped listening because I felt he had a spirit of arrogance. When my Godly financial broker spoke against him and Jon Acuff quit suddenly I knew I had to denounce him. I stopped teaching all of his materials at my church and love the Crown Financial ministries is producing content again. We have to stop supporting these arrogant prideful men in ministry. The ends DO NOT justify the means. Thank you yo Amy and Melissa. You are brave an courageous.
Concerned Listener
I have learned a great deal of financial principles which have slowed us to be debt free for years now. I’m thankful for that. But, as I listen to Dave’s interaction with people on his show, degrading them, bullying them, and dismissing them, I’ve become uncomfortable with the way he treats people. Now I know why I’ve been uncomfortable, listening to your podcast. You have confirmed what I have suspected. Thanks for your courage to tell the truth. Keep up the good work!
Healing
Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your stories. I pray for healing and freedom for all impacted.
I’m just here to read the 1 ⭐️ reviews
I really do appreciate the show which is why I gave it 5 stars, but I’m more interested in reading the 1 star reviews from those “insiders” who can’t see the truth because it would co$t them too much. Thanks for helping out our former fake pastor who’s still lying and faking folks in Michigan. Please Google Zach Stewart pastor so you can read and watch more truth about his lies.
The truth will set you free
Keep doing the good work. Shine a light in the dark places and pull back the Great Oz curtain. Those of us who have also been hurt by Christian leaders and have felt alone or too scared to share our story can find solace in knowing we are not alone nor crazy.
Compelling listening: personal stories and helpful info
Amy has been through abusive situations and she understands. She gets it! She wants to help others to get out and to stay out of abusive situations. Join the community that fights against the abusers!
Heartfelt, honest, and winsome.
This show’s thoughtful production and editing helps cut to the deeper questions of religious loss, change, abuse, and trauma. I am grateful for Amy’s service to her listeners.
Untangled Faith
This podcast is full of wonderful truths that truly reflects real life issues. The transparency and humility are so evident and is currently helping this 20 something year old unlock the door to the secret garden and being reminded that loyalty is not a fruit of the spirit. That reality alone and the beautiful way it was unpacked rocked my world. I wish I could give this podcast 10 stars! I am very grateful to have found it when I needed it most. I have both laughed and had tears of gratitude realizing that I’m not alone. And talking about superhero’s is always a bonus.
Gentle but thorough look at church trauma.
This podcast doesn’t re-traumatize as it explores trauma.
Scared?!
Amy Fritz said she went into podcasting scared. I’m sure glad she made that sacrifice! Turns out she not only has what it takes; empathy, perspective, keen insight, love for the Lord and His Church, she does a great job of formatting, hosting and editing. I love that she brings both experts and victims into the discussion, going back and forth between them along with Amy’s helpful clarifying comments. The result is a very engaging, purposeful and effective podcasts.
Speaking the truth in love
Having experienced spiritual abuse myself, I know how easy it can be to become cynical and embittered. Amy, however, but manages to reveal and process spiritual abuse in a remarkably non-cynical and hopeful manner. Rather than bashing the church, Amy speaks truth out of her great love for the church and a desire to see wounded Christians heal. I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough!
Thank you for starting the conversation!
Amy, this is a timely podcast. Thank you for being courageous and clear as you communicate the reality of spiritual abuse. May God continue to open the dark and dirty corners of his church and call us all into the light of the glory of Christ. I pray this podcast will help raise awareness of this sad and prevalent issue. I pray it helps those who have been afflicted by the blows of abuse to look to Jesus and his word to recover and heal.
So needed
Most of the people I know have gone through church hurt at some point in their lives. Thank you so much for being willing to share these stories and she’d light on the issues of abuse that are so prevalent.
The pot needs stirring!
Thank you for bringing these abuses out of the shadows and into the light. It’s way past time to address spiritual abuse and start healing. Anybody who accuses this podcast of being divisive is complicit in trying to hide sin in the church. It’s abusive, anti-Christ, and decimates our witness.
Thank you!
Thank you for opening up this sensitive topic and letting your listeners see the hurt and healing. Our family is a victim of spiritual abuse. During our lowest time (mental health crisis) we experienced gaslighting, misuse of scripture, favoritism, lack of accountability amongst other painful things. Your words and stories make me feel not crazy and encouraged as our family walks this road. I relate to so many things mentioned. Thank you for this ministry!
